Enhanced Outreach

Community outreach is part of the broader global mission of the church. Participation in an Inasmuch event strengthens a church’s missional commitment because:

  • An Inasmuch event is a low-commitment way to introduce congregants to mercy ministry. In many cases, this toe-in-the-water approach leads to longer-term outreach to the community. See how one day led to five years of service at Parkridge Harbor.
  • Community ministry broadens congregants’ view of missions. People can reach out to the world right in their backyard through Inasmuch activities. First-hand experience helps volunteers appreciate the larger missions vision of the church. Many of those who serve in compassion ministry end up joining or starting global missions trips.
  • Service to those in need leads to gospel opportunities. The question, “Why are you doing this for me?” results in the opportunity to share the good news. People are willing to hear about Jesus’ power to heal their souls when we meet their immediate physical and emotional needs.

“[One woman] was totally broke, so we helped with her laundry. We also helped with rent and groceries. She is now coming to our church and getting involved. Without Operation Inasmuch, we would never have discovered her.”
